When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution humanity has been waiting for. The undying's message leads to the planet Gaia, a treasure trove waiting to be explored.

For Jules Addison, the discovery of an ancient alien culture offersunprecendated opportunity for study... as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first. Despite their opposing reasons for smuggling themselves onto the alien planet's surface, they're both desperate to uncover the riches hidden in the Undying temples. Beset by rival scavenger gangs, Jules and Mia form a fragile alliance, but both are keeping secrets that make trust nearly impossible.

But the more they learn about the Undying, the more Jules and Mia start to feel like their presence is part of a grand design- one that could spell the end of the human race...

My review
Thoughts on the book: Unearthed is the new Sci Fi book from Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner which is a captivating read that will have you mesmerised from the word go as we follow the journey to unearth Gaia's secrets told through our two main characters, Jules and Mia, points of view. Jules Addison has decided to go to Gaia to study the new planet and learn about the race that was there before they died out and why they died out so he can prevent the same thing from happening on earth.  Mia (Amelia) has gone to Gaia to find the best piece of technology for her boss so that she can buy her way to freedom and not struggle for every little thing. Mia had decided to do her search alone and Jules was to meet a group of people who would help him, but the powers that be decide that the two need to work together to find what they are looking for. But each is holding a secret from the other that may impact not only how the other person sees them but also put their mission in jeopardy as they are both looking for very different things. Will Jules and Mia make it off Gaia alive?

I had only really read some of Amie Kaufman's work through the Illuminae series she cowrites with Jay Kristoff and loved them so much but I ummed and arghed a lot about requesting a copy of this book because I don't normally like sci-fi books and have read many to be perfectly honest, but upon seeing all the hype from everyone else I decided to bite the bulletin and put in a request and boy am I glad that I did. Unearthed was amazing and that ending there are no words. I fell in love with the whole world that they created and I should also mention the amazing main characters Jules and Mia. It really was a case of opposites attract and gives you the hope that there really is someone out there for everyone. I was swept along a magical ride that had me entranced the whole way through and not able to put down the book until the very end, which as I said was so not what I was expecting or if I'm honest wanted because know I actually have to wait what seems like forever for book 2. But at least in the meantime I have their previously released trilogy, The Starbound Trilogy to read as well as Hunted by Meagan and the last Illumiane book, Obsidio which should tie me over.

Rating: 4/5
