Once their was a girl who was drawn to wicked things.

Asha is a dragon-slayer. Reviled by the very people she's sworn to protect, she kills to atone for the wicked deed she committed as a child- one that almost destroyed her city, and left her with. Terrain,e scar.

But protecting her father's kingdom is a lonely destiny: no matter how many dragons she kills, her people still think she's wicked.

Even worse, to unite the fractured kingdom she must marry Jarek, the cruel commandant. As the wedding day approaches, Asha longs for freedom.

Just when it seems her fate is sealed, the King offers her a way out: her freedom in exchange for the head of the most powerful dragon in Figaard.

And the only perm standing in her way is a defiant slave boy...

My review
Thoughts on the book: Asha has always been feared by her people due to the vicious scar given to her by The First Dragon after she made a terrible mistake which lead to her mother being killed. Since hen she has tried to do everything in her power to right this wrong but she is keeping a secret that could unravel all the good that she has done, Asha has been telling the old stories which are forbidden. But she has been getting the job done and has been killing all of the dragons. Now she is supposed to wed Jarek,a nasty man who she can't stand. But her father has given her an ultimatum: kill Kozu (thus killing all dragons) and give him the heart and she won't have to wed Jarek. Asha would do anything to get out of this marriage but as she starts hunting and learning more about her people's past and dragons will she change her mind?

First thing I have to say is a massive thank you to the Date a Book team over at Hachette Australia for sending me an Advance Readers Copy of The Last Namsara. I throughly enjoyed it and I'm going to start off by saying I love the ARC cover more than the final copy. This has actually been happening a lot to me lately and I don't know why. I just felt that the ARC cover felt more in tune with the book then what the final did, which might have something to do with the dragon on the ARC cover and this story being largely based on Dragons.

The Last Namsara is a fantastically written debut novel from Kristen Ciccarelli featuring our ultimate dragon kicking bad ass warrior, Asha. Asha develops so much throughout the book and is was lovely to watch the changes that she goes through throughout and the different relationships she forms with all of the characters and of course the dragons. I love the fact that the dragons play a major role in this book and that Asha comes to treat them with the respect that they deserve. Another aspect of the book I enjoyed was Asha's dysfunctional family, her father the King wants all dragons killed, her brother who their father believes is a fool and not fit to rule and Asha who he believes is a disgrace. No wonder Dax and Asha team up to fight their father. The last thing I want to comment on about The Last Namsara are the little stories set throughout the book, which are the ones that are forbidden. The grey pages which highlight these (in my copy at least) make them that much more beautiful and let's you know that they are important to the story.

When I finished the book I thought that was a nice ending but I could defiantly do with more and I have now seen that there are to be more books written in this series which I am very excited for.

Rating: 4/5
