Can you fall in love with someone you've never met, never spoken to- someone who is light years away?

Romy Silvers is the only surviving crew member on a spaceship bound for a new planet. She is the Lonliest girl in the universe, until she hears that a second spaceship has launched from Earth, with a single passenger on board. A boy called J.

Their only communication is via email, and the messages take months to transmit, yet Romy finds herself falling in love. But what does she really know about J? And what do the strange new messages from Earth mean? Sometimes, there's something worse than being alone...

My review
Thoughts on the book: Romy Silvers has known nothing but The Infinity (the first manned spacecraft to travel to a different star system) her whole life, considering she was born on it making her the first baby born in space. But life hasn't been very kind to Romy and she has lost both her parents during her short life so far and has had to take over control of the spaceship to survive. Her only communication is with Earth but emails between the two take nearly two years before they reach each other. One day through Romy recieves an email saying that they are sending up another spacecraft to join her on the mission. This one is much newer and also has a single passenger, a boy named J. So starts the countdown for these two ships to merge and become one, and so does the friendship between J and Romy. But not everything is as it seems.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe was a fantastic read that I'm going to remember for awhile. The storyline was amazing and I could really picture everything that was going on through the fantastic descriptions that the author gave us. Even now as I'm writing this I can still see what I think the ships would look like and it brings a massive smile to my face. I also fell in love with our main character Romy. She is such a strong female in that when her parents died while she was so young she still managed to work through her grief and then get back on board and man the ship. Even when she starts recieving the emails from J and then stops receiving them from earth she adapts well to the changes that are put in place. I wish I could be a resilient as her. I loved the little things that she did to entertain herself like write her fanfic posts called Loch & Ness which are based on her favourite show and make her little farm out of plastic wrapping. She was very creative when it came down to it and I don't think that if I was in that situation that I would be.

But by far my favourite part was the mystery surround 'The Astronauts' and the death of her parents. I went into it thinking that I knew what was going to happen and how her parents died but I couldn't have been more wrong about it all. I thought Romy wouldn't enter the sickbay because that's where her dads body was still after he died from I put it down to a sickness and I thought her mum had killed herself because she couldn't handle living on the ship. I didn't really have an idea on who 'The Astronauts' were but it defiantly wasn't what I thought it would be. And then there was the mysterious J who was rapidly approaching her in the new ship. I was so wrong about him and that's all I will say.  The book was wrapped up very nicely and I would have loved to have read more after what happened.
