My review
Thoughts on the book: Dirty is the first book in New York Times Bestselling author, Kylie Scott's new series, Dive Bar. In Dirty we are introduced to recent runaway bride Lydia and recently returned to his childhood hometown Vaughan. Both are carrying some series problems around with them and it seems to be the perfect place at the perfect time that they can both be there for each other in the way that they need right now. But will the drama going on around them interfere in their moment or will this really be just a fling?
I absolutely adored reading Dirty and enjoyed reading how Vaugh and Lydia met. I was constantly laughing at their instant easy going relationship with each other that we as readers see but they as characters seem so oblivious to. I loved the plot line of how they no met, Lydia hiding in Vaughan's bath tub after running away from her newly discovered very gay fiancé on their wedding day after reviving a message of him and his best man being a little more than friendly with each other. This exchange though had me in tears of laughter:
"You touch any of my stuff?" He asked. "Take anything?"
"Yes, your sofa is currently hidden down the front of my dress. You won't believe where I fit the TV."
I also loved that Kylie Scott chose to portray Lydia as a curvy women and not a stick thin girl who most authors tend to be drawn to. Being a bigger girl myself I applaud all authors who chose to go down these roads and give us bigger girls a chance at love to. Now I must say that I don't really like the instant love side of books as I find it a little hard to believe personally but I can admit that Vaughan and Lydia do fit together amazingly and their chemistry and love for each other is undeniable.
Having previously read Twist before Dirty (Book 2 in the Dive Bar series) I had some insight into Vaughen and Lydia's relationship and also of the other characters who Twist was centred around. Having now read both I would have preferred to have read Dirty first as certain elements of this book make me understand some of what has happened in book 2 that much more. But I don think it really matters what order you read the books in. Having said this I can't wait to read the rest of the series and even start the Stage Dive series.
